Windsor Zoom Boom Ticket - Zoom Boom Training is designed to train operators on variable reach forklifts. The goals of the training are to be able to impart an understanding of the physics of the equipment, and to be able to outline the operator's job. This program adheres to North American safety standards for lift trucks. Zoom boom training and certification is available at our site or at the company's location, provided there are a minimum number of individuals training. Certification given upon successfully completing it is good for three years.
A telescopic handler (also known as a telehandler) is similar in some ways to both a forklift and a crane. It is a helpful machine designed with a telescopic boom which can extend forwards and lift upwards. A variety of attachments could be connected on the end of the boom, such as pallet forks, bucket, muck grab or lift table. It is popular in industry and agriculture settings.
Telehandlers are most commonly used together with the fork attachment to be able to shuttle loads. The units have the advantage that they can get to places inaccessible to standard forklifts. Telehandlers could remove palletized loads from inside a trailer and putting them on high places such as rooftops. For some applications, they could be a lot more practical and efficient than a crane.
The disadvantage of the telehandler is its unsteadiness when lifting loads that are heavier. As the boom extends with a load, the unit becomes more and more unsteady. Counterweights in the rear help, but do not solve the problem. As the working radius increases, the lifting capacity quickly decreases. Several machines come with front outriggers that extend the lifting capacity whilst the machine is stationary.
