Windsor Manlift Certification - The Elevated Platforms and Manlifts Certification program helps to provide the required training on the safe operating procedures, work practice, rules and regulations regarding the everyday activities for the operators of this machinery. The program has been designed for individuals who are actively involved in these activities or individuals who have a basic understanding of this equipment.

During the past couple of decades, manlifts and aerial platforms have become a common sight on construction job sites and in industrial maintenance applications. These machinery provide an easy way to lift staff near what must be performed on a stable platform apparatus, allowing staff to do tasks with greater safety and comfort rather than being perched on top of scaffolding or ladders.

Similar to every other device, manlifts are just safe if they are used properly. Because they elevate workers above floor or ground level, accidents could easily happen and this could cause serious fatalities or injuries for both the manlift operators and any passerby who may be unlucky enough to be standing below.

Manlifts come in various models. Nearly all fit into 1 or 2 categories: the scissor lift, that is capable of moving up and down and the articulating boom lift, which can move both horizontally and vertically.

Protecting Staff

Proper training is very important when it comes to safety matters. Many of the companies which rent manlifts would provide training at the jobsite. Every worker who will be working on the machine or operating it needs to receive training in safe operations. It is also important that just those workers who have received training should be authorized to operate the controls. Operating procedures and communication rules should be clear. Thus, staff on the ground should not operate controls without the approval and knowledge of any employees inside the basket.

The workers that occupy the basket will be required to wear the proper fall protection gear which comprises a lanyard and harness. The fall protection attaches to the manlift easily. The worker must ensure that she or he has made any adjustments required to reflect the change in fall distance if there are changes in the height of the work area.

To make sure that the manlift is in good operating condition, manlifts must be tested and inspected every day. Prior to utilizing the machinery, whatever defects should be re-inspected and fixed.
